AccessStar’s Day Program is dedicated to promoting self-confidence and self-worth while helping individuals build life skills, gain independence, and become active community members. Our program is based on AccessStar’s uniquely designed structured curriculum called B.E.A.M.S: Beacon’s Empowerment and Advancement Modules. Participants engage in B.E.A.M.S curriculum-based activities and lessons in small groups within classrooms known as pods.
Curriculum-Based Activities and Lessons
Our program utilizes the community as a teaching tool to enhance community awareness, foster interactions, and improve overall quality of life. While participating in the program, individuals will enjoy activities such as:
- Volunteering
- Leisure and recreation activities
- Shopping
- Out-of-town trips to places like Washington DC, Richmond, etc.
- Monthly social events
On-Site Activities
Our on-site activities provide opportunities for individuals to participate in wellness-focused classes that cover:
- Exercise
- Cooking
- Personal hygiene
- Safety
Additionally, we offer personal growth activities designed to build skills in:
- Communication
- Socialization
- Behavior management
- Self-advocacy
- Technology
- Literacy
Off-Site Activities
Off-site group activities support learning and skill development in real-world settings, helping individuals become more independent, healthy, and active participants at home and in the community.
